BI records stable retail sales performance for June 2026
Bank Indonesia (BI) has recorded that retail sales performance in June 2026 remained relatively stable. In the June 2026 Retail Sales Survey (SPE), the Real Sales Index (IPR) was recorded at 225, or a contraction of 3 percent year-on-year (yoy). Although still contracting, this figure improved compared to the previous month’s contraction of 3.9 percent (yoy).
“This performance was supported by continued annual growth in sales of the Spare Parts and Accessories Group, Other Household Equipment Group, and Other Goods Group,” said Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Executive Director of Bank Indonesia’s Communication Department, in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
By group, sales of Spare Parts and Accessories grew by 18.8 percent (yoy), Other Household Equipment grew by 2.8 percent (yoy), and Other Goods grew by 1.1 percent (yoy). The Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group contracted by 3.6 percent (yoy), an improvement from the 4.1 percent (yoy) contraction in the previous month. The Clothing sub-group also contracted by 3.1 percent (yoy).
On a monthly basis, retail sales performance in June 2026 grew by 0.7 percent (mtm), reversing the 1.5 percent (mtm) contraction recorded in May 2026. This growth was driven by increases in the Other Goods Group, Spare Parts and Accessories Group, and Other Household Equipment Group, which grew by 6.9 percent, 3.7 percent, and 2.8 percent (mtm), respectively. In May 2026, these three groups had contracted by 9.2 percent, 4.7 percent, and 0.7 percent (mtm), respectively.
