Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Destry Damayanti revealed that foreign capital inflows into the country continued this week, aligning with the central bank’s reinforced policy mix, including a 50 basis point (bps) increase in the benchmark BI Rate over the past month. BI also strengthened the structure of its SRBI interest rate, provided hedging swap incentives for foreign investors, opened repo access to support banking liquidity, and intensified monetary operations in both rupiah and foreign exchange.

“Following the BI Rate hike, foreign capital inflows have shown positive development, supported by the attractiveness of domestic financial instruments,” she stated in an official release on Friday (12/8/2026). Destry noted that strong global investor interest was reflected in increased non-resident transactions in SRBI and Government Securities (SBN), which on 10 and 11 June 2026 recorded inflows of Rp15.11 trillion and Rp3.91 trillion, respectively.

These foreign fund inflows have further strengthened the rupiah’s position against the US dollar. According to Refinitiv data, the rupiah closed 0.61% stronger at Rp17,865/US, movingfurtherawayfromthepsychologicallevelofRp18, 000/US and approaching the Rp17,800/US$ area. “This development reflects the market’s positive response to Bank Indonesia’s policy mix,” Destry asserted.
