BI Records QRIS Users Reach 65.77 Million

Bank Indonesia (BI) has recorded significant growth in the adoption of the national digital payment system. As of June 2026, the number of QRIS users has reached 65.77 million people, with a total of 44.86 million integrated merchants, of which 96.68 per cent are MSMEs.

BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta emphasised that QRIS is no longer merely a fast, easy, cheap, safe and reliable payment tool. According to her, QRIS has transformed into the main entry point for MSMEs to enter the broader digital financial ecosystem.

“Digital transformation is becoming increasingly important to improve productivity, expand markets, and encourage MSMEs to move up a class amid the rapid development of the digital economy,” said Filianingsih at an Innovation Talk event in Jakarta on Friday (21/8).

To support this, BI is implementing three main strategies to encourage MSMEs to go digital. In addition to these strategies, BI is also developing the Digital Innovation Centre of Indonesia (PIDI). This platform is the result of synergy between BI, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and other strategic partners to accelerate innovation and the development of national digital talent relevant to the real sector.

As part of the 2026 Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) series, BI stressed the importance of the banking industry utilising digital data. Strengthening digital record-keeping is expected to improve efficiency and governance, as well as facilitate access to financing for small business actors.

Through the spirit of Beudaya MeusareSare, or Berdaya Bersama-sama, BI is committed to strengthening synergy with all stakeholders. This step aims to produce adaptive and innovative MSMEs as the engine of inclusive and sustainable Indonesian economic growth.
