Bank Indonesia’s South Kalimantan Provincial Office recorded investment interest of Rp73 trillion from 20 domestic and foreign investors, resulting in 12 Letters of Intent (LoI) through the Pamor Borneo 2026 Investment Forum held in Banjarmasin from 7 to 9 August 2026.

Head of Bank Indonesia’s South Kalimantan Representative Office, Haris Munandar, said the achievement was the main outcome of Pamor Borneo 2026 in strengthening economic performance across Kalimantan through increased investment, MSME competitiveness, and digitalisation of the payment system.

“Pamor Borneo, which was held over three days, has had a positive impact in driving the overall economic performance of Kalimantan,” said Haris at the closing of Pamor Borneo 2026 in Banjarmasin on Sunday.

According to him, the economic strengthening through Pamor Borneo was reflected in the improved competitiveness of MSMEs, the acceleration of investment that produced 12 LoIs from 20 investors with an interest value of Rp73 trillion, as well as the expansion of digital payment system acceptance through QRIS and various supporting activities.

“This achievement is the result of synergy between Bank Indonesia and the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, Dekranasda, MSME players, the private sector, and various working partners who jointly develop regional potential to strengthen South Kalimantan’s position in the regional economy,” he said.

He expressed hope that the collaboration would continue after Pamor Borneo 2026 concludes, so that the investment interest that has been formed can be followed up, while MSME strengthening and payment digitalisation continue to be expanded to deliver an even greater economic impact.

He stressed that cross-party cooperation is key because each stakeholder has a complementary role in accelerating regional economic transformation, in line with the spirit of “the power of we” which emphasises the strength of working together.

In order to strengthen payment digitalisation, Bank Indonesia awarded the title “Bunda QRIS Kalimantan Selatan” to the Chair of the South Kalimantan Provincial Dekranasda, Fathul Jannah, as a form of appreciation for her role in increasing the use of QRIS among the public and business actors.

Haris said the expansion of payment digitalisation is part of efforts to strengthen South Kalimantan as a logistics gateway and economic gateway in Kalimantan, in line with the increase in trade and community business activities.

Meanwhile, Chair of the South Kalimantan Provincial Dekranasda, Fathul Jannah, said Pamor Borneo 2026, which took place in Banjarmasin from 7 to 9 August 2026, was an effort to strengthen MSMEs, investment, and digital acceptance.

She noted that the MSME exhibition at the event showcased food and beverage products, fashion, and crafts, while also opening promotional space for regional business actors to improve competitiveness and expand market access.

She also invited the public and all stakeholders to strengthen the preservation of South Kalimantan’s distinctive traditional textiles, particularly sasirangan, through collaboration between MSMEs, designers, Dekranasda, local government, and the private sector so that they have economic value while maintaining the region’s cultural identity.

“The expansion of QRIS usage also needs to continue because it provides ease and security of transactions, while MSME development, investment strengthening, and digitalisation must become a sustainable agenda to support the vision of Kalsel Bekerja towards becoming Kalimantan’s logistics gateway,” said Fathul Jannah.

Previously, at the opening of the event, 15 strategic projects were promoted covering a number of leading sectors with an investment value of approximately Rp62.13 trillion. A total of 20 prospective investors held direct business meetings with project owners, resulting in 12 LoIs as an initial follow-up to investment exploration.

One of the projects with the largest investment value offered was the construction of a coal downstreaming plant to produce methanol in Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan, with an investment value of approximately Rp46.17 trillion, along with several other strategic projects spread across other provinces on the island of Kalimantan.
