BI Records Broad Money (M2) Growth of 10.8% to Rp10,415 Trillion in May 2026
Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that economic liquidity, or broad money supply (M2), grew at a faster pace in May 2026. In May 2026, M2 expanded by 10.8% year-on-year (yoy), higher than the 9.2% (yoy) growth in April 2026, reaching Rp10,415.9 trillion. “This development was driven by narrow money (M1) growth of 15.3% (yoy) and quasi-money growth of 6.0% (yoy),” said Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Head of the Communication Department and Executive Director of BI, in a press release on Tuesday (23/6/2026). The development of M2 in May 2026 was primarily influenced by credit disbursement and net foreign assets. Credit disbursement grew by 10.8% (yoy), an increase compared to the 9.4% (yoy) growth in April 2026. Meanwhile, Denny stated that net foreign assets in May 2026 grew by 5.2% (yoy), higher than the previous month’s growth of 3.7% (yoy). Adjusted base money (M0) in May 2026 grew by 14.2% (yoy), continuing the 14.3% (yoy) growth in April 2026, and was recorded at Rp2,214.6 trillion. “This development was influenced by the growth of commercial banks’ current accounts at Bank Indonesia, adjusted by 17.4% (yoy), and currency in circulation by 15.8% (yoy),” said Denny. Based on the influencing factors, he continued, the growth of adjusted M0 has taken into account the impact of providing liquidity incentives (adjusted monetary control).
