BI Rate Rises Again, Rupiah Weakens to Rp 17,800 per US Dollar

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG), which opened stronger, plunged into the red during trading at 10:09 Western Indonesia Time on Friday (19/06), weakening to 6,170. The rupiah corrected 0.51% to Rp 17,790 per US dollar and even briefly touched the Rp 17,800/USD level.

From the commodity side, oil prices experienced a decline of up to 10% over the week, driven by optimism surrounding peace between Iran and the United States. This also affected coal, which similarly corrected, and gold prices, which slumped below USD 4,200 per troy ounce.
