Bank Indonesia (BI) adjusted its monetary policy on Thursday (18/6/2026), hiking the BI-Rate by 25 basis points to 5.75% at 14:30 WIB. Following the announcement, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) extended its decline after closing the first trading session in negative territory. The index immediately dropped to 6,124.32, a fall of 1.55% from the previous close. The rate hike is expected to prolong the downward trend as risk-off sentiment prompts investors to shed riskier assets, from long-tenor bonds to domestic equities. During the second trading session, Bank Central Asia (BBCA) led daily transaction value at Rp883.29 billion, followed by Chandra Asri Pacific (TPIA) at Rp854.12 billion and Bank Rakyat Indonesia at Rp670.54 billion. By sector, only basic industries managed a gain of 0.11%, while all other sectors fell. Infrastructure suffered the steepest decline at -2.75%, followed by financials at -1.77% and healthcare at -1.53%. At the close of the first session, the Indonesian stock market recorded a net foreign inflow of Rp225.83 billion.
