Bank Indonesia (BI) North Sumatra Representative Office stated that Medan Fashion Trend is an effort to elevate and promote the region’s fashion potential.

“North Sumatra has a strong foundation because it produces ulos, songket and woven textiles,” said the Head of Bank Indonesia North Sumatra Representative Office, Ameriza M Moesa, in Medan on Thursday.

Ameriza said all of these regional products from North Sumatra have the potential to be developed through innovation and marketing.

Furthermore, she expressed hope that Medan Fashion Trend would continue to produce professional designers up to the national level.

“Because this event also involves national designers, we hope it will attract local design talent to showcase their work,” she said.

In addition, the event highlighting regional fashion is expected to attract tourists who come to see the fashion trends on display.

“Therefore, we encourage similar events in North Sumatra to keep growing and boost the growth of the local creative economy,” she said.

Medan Fashion Trend is part of Karya Kreatif Sumatera Utara (KKSU), which strengthens the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem in the region to expand market access from the national to the international level.

Ameriza said MSME development is one of Bank Indonesia’s priorities in supporting inclusive, sustainable and high-quality regional economic growth.

She said KKSU is not merely a product exhibition involving around 300 MSMEs, but rather a collaborative platform that brings together business actors, the business community, investors, academics, communities and buyers within a single strengthening ecosystem.

The event runs from 15 to 26 July 2026 at a shopping mall in Medan. Over the 12 days, activities include flagship product exhibitions, business matching, showcases, export products, talk shows, and MSME promotion education.
