Makassar (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) notes that liquidity in the economy, or broad money supply (M2), grew positively in April 2026 by 9.2% year-on-year, reaching Rp10,253.7 trillion. Executive Director of the BI Communications Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso, in a statement received in Makassar on Friday, said that this development continued the growth seen in March 2026, which was 9.7% y/y. Furthermore, the development was driven by growth in narrow money (M1) of 13.6% y/y and quasi money of 4.7% y/y. M2 growth in April 2026 was mainly influenced by net claims on the Central Government (Pempus) and credit disbursement. Net claims on Pempus grew by 38.6% y/y, after growing by 39.1% y/y in March 2026. Meanwhile, credit disbursement in April 2026 grew by 9.4% y/y, higher than growth in March 2026 of 8.9% y/y. In this regard, the credit extended is only in the form of loans, and does not include financial instruments treated as loans, such as debt securities, banker’s acceptances, and repo instruments. Additionally, loans extended do not include credit provided by offices of commercial banks domiciled abroad, and credit disbursed to the central government and non-residents. BI also reports that the adjusted Prime Money (M0) in April 2026 grew by 14.3% y/y, continuing March 2026’s 16.8% y/y growth, to Rp2,232.2 trillion. This development was influenced by growth in general banks’ giro accounts held with Bank Indonesia adjusted by 21.6% y/y and currency in circulation by 14.6% y/y. Based on the factors influencing it, the growth of adjusted M0 has taken into account the impact of liquidity incentives (adjusted monetary control).
