BI Lampung: Lampung's Economic Prospects Remain Positive
Bandarlampung (ANTARA) - Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia’s Lampung Province Representative Office, Achmad P Subarkah, stated that the economic prospects in Lampung Province remain positive moving forward.
“In the first quarter of 2026, Lampung Province experienced very good economic growth of 5.58%, ranking second across Sumatra. Therefore, we see that Lampung’s economic prospects remain positive ahead, with growth in the range of 5.00 to 5.60,” said Achmad P Subarkah, Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia’s Lampung Province Representative Office, in Bandarlampung on Wednesday.
He added that the positive economic prospects are also due to controlled inflation, which remains within the set range of 2.5% plus or minus one percent. Lampung has managed to keep inflation between 1.5% and 3.5%.
“There are several factors that can drive future economic growth. The first is the increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP), which impacts the improvement in people’s purchasing power,” he said.
He continued that there are several national strategic projects (PSN) that can drive national economic growth. Additionally, there is strengthening of downstreaming for strategic commodities in the agricultural sector.
“Therefore, we also support the Lampung Province programme related to downstreaming of several main commodities, so that the added value can be enjoyed by Lampung Province or specifically the farmers. Because so far, farmers sell their produce raw at harvest time, while the added value from downstreaming is higher than selling raw at every harvest,” he added.
According to him, several sectors that drove Lampung’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 will continue to be maintained. From the business field side, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector will remain maintained.
The second is the wholesale and retail trade sector. This was driven by the Eid al-Fitr and Chinese New Year momentum. Meanwhile, the third sector, accommodation, food, and beverage, also recorded high growth of 12.43%.
“This shows that Lampung is now becoming one of the destinations, such as culinary tourism or other tourism potentials. These potentials must continue to be maintained to keep the economic growth momentum sustained moving forward,” he said.
