Bank Indonesia (BI), through its Retail Sales Survey, forecasts that retail sales performance will remain stable in June 2026, as indicated by a Real Sales Index (IPR) projection of 221.6. This index projection still records a contraction of 4.4 percent year-on-year (yoy).

Executive Director of BI’s Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, stated that this development is primarily supported by positive annual sales growth in the spare parts and accessories group, as well as other household equipment. The survey details that the spare parts and accessories group recorded an index of 145.5, growing 11 percent (yoy), while the other household equipment group recorded an index of 83.8, growing 1.8 percent (yoy).

On a monthly basis, retail sales in June 2026 are forecast to decline by -0.8 percent (month-to-month/mtm), an improvement compared to the previous period’s decline of -1.5 percent (mtm). BI noted that this improvement was driven by increased sales performance in the other household equipment group (1.9 percent mtm) and the clothing sub-group (4.7 percent mtm), coinciding with the start of the school holiday period at the end of June 2026. Meanwhile, the cultural and recreational goods group (-2.0 percent mtm), the spare parts and accessories group (-3.1 percent mtm), and the food, beverages, and tobacco group (-0.7 percent mtm) experienced an improvement from the previous period, although they remained in the contraction zone.
