BI Intensifies Issuance of SRBI, Now Rp 921.88 Trillion to Safeguard the Rupiah
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Bank Indonesia (BI) has again been actively issuing monetary operation instruments aimed at bolstering the supply of dollars domestically, namely Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities, or SRBI.
Governor Perry Warjiyo said the total SRBI volume had reached Rp 921.88 trillion, comprising foreign investors’ holdings of Rp 221.59 trillion, or about 24.04% of the outstanding amount.
‘Thus supporting the rupiah’s stabilisation,’ Perry said at a press conference on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
Perry noted that the rising SRBI volume was linked to BI’s decision to raise its policy rate or yields, to make them more attractive to investors.
The SRBI yields have risen to 6.21% for a 6-month tenor, 6.31% for a 9-month tenor, and 6.45% for a 12-month tenor as of 13 May 2026.
‘These responses could spur foreign inflows in Q1-2026, which recorded inflows of US$5.5 billion,’ Perry asserted.
