Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that the performance of the Manufacturing Industry sector remained robust and in an expansionary phase during the second quarter of 2026, reflected by a Prompt Manufacturing Index (PMI-BI) of 51.43%. This figure is lower than the previous quarter’s 52.03%. Based on its constituent components, the majority were in the expansion phase, namely Production Volume, Finished Goods Inventory Volume, and Total Order Volume. By sub-sector, most were also in the expansion phase, with the highest index recorded in the Machinery and Equipment Industry, followed by the Food and Beverage Industry, Basic Metal Industry, and Non-Metallic Mineral Products Industry. Looking ahead to the third quarter of 2026, the performance of the Manufacturing Industry sector is projected to improve and remain in the expansion phase, reflected by a PMI-BI of 52.32%. The expansion is expected to be driven by Production Volume, Finished Goods Inventory Volume, and Total Order Volume. The majority of sub-sectors are forecast to be in the expansion phase, with the highest index anticipated in the Machinery and Equipment Industry, followed by the Tobacco Processing Industry, Basic Metal Industry, and Transport Equipment Industry.
