BI: Household Income Remains Strong, Instalments Start to Decline
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Public confidence in the economic situation remains well-maintained in April 2026. Amid the slowdown in several consumption indicators in recent months, the public still views household income and economic conditions as being in an optimistic zone. This is reflected in the results of Bank Indonesia’s (BI) April 2026 Consumer Survey, which shows the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) at a level of 123.0, a slight increase from the previous month’s 122.9. This condition is supported by the public’s perception of the current economic situation improving. The Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) in April 2026 was recorded at 116.5, an increase from March 2026’s 115.4. Meanwhile, the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK) remains at an optimistic level of 129.6, although slightly down from the previous month’s 130.4. One of the indicators highlighted in the survey is the public’s perception of current income. BI noted that the Current Income Index (IPSI) is still at an optimistic level of 128.1, despite a decline from the previous month’s 129.2. This data indicates that the public still views household income as being in a fairly good condition, although there is a slight weakening compared to the previous period. Meanwhile, in terms of age, the 20 to 30-year-old respondent group recorded the highest income index, although it slightly declined to 137.6. This finding shows that the young productive age group still has a relatively high level of confidence in their income conditions compared to other age groups. In addition to income, public perceptions of job availability also experienced an increase.
