BI Governor Admits the World is Not Doing Well, Here Are the Causes
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has stated that the world is not in good shape. This is triggering high uncertainty and economic slowdown. Perry expressed this during the National Policy Dialogue and Kick Off for the National Intermediation Acceleration (PINISI), on Monday (27/4/2026).
This global uncertainty and economic slowdown are triggered by tariff policies, worsening geopolitical situations, and the impacts of Middle East conflicts.
“The impacts of the Middle East conflict are truly being monitored and guarded against, not only high oil prices but also high US interest rates, capital outflows, and pressures on our economy (Indonesia),” Perry explained.
Therefore, Perry sees that Indonesia must enhance synergies to increase Indonesia’s resilience. For this reason, BI continues to strengthen domestic-based synergies.
This must be done because BI identifies three main challenges for the Indonesian economy. First, efforts to revive business actors and financing for priority projects to achieve stability.
Second, strengthening domestic purchasing power and increasing investment, and third, policies that have been formulated must be pushed to be implemented quickly and accurately.
On this basis, BI has initiated cooperation with BI, the government, OJK, Danantara, and business actors as well as investors to support the domestic economy through the National Intermediation Acceleration (PINISI) programme.
“We will utilise PINISI, we are doing and will do what the government has prepared programmes. Including the Danantara ecosystem can develop for high growth. Together we find the best solutions. We hope PINISI can carry out good interactions in agreements, financing, and project realisation,” he stated.
