BI Designates SMF Bonds as Underlying Asset for Repo Transactions
Bank Indonesia has designated bonds issued by PT Sarana Multigriya Finansial (SMF) as eligible underlying assets for repurchase agreement (repo) transactions. This decision makes SMF bonds the first corporate debt securities permitted to serve as underlying assets in repo transactions under Bank Indonesia’s framework.
The approval represents a significant expansion of the eligible collateral base for repo market operations, providing market participants with additional financial instruments for liquidity management and short-term funding arrangements.
