BI: Cross-Border QRIS Transactions Reach Rp1.52 Trillion

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that cross-border QRIS transactions reached a net inbound value of Rp1.52 trillion in the second quarter of 2026. BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta stated that this achievement stemmed from inbound transactions totalling Rp1.85 trillion and outbound transactions of approximately Rp330 billion. “If we look at the second quarter of 2026, cross-border QRIS transactions on a net inbound basis amounted to Rp1.52 trillion. This comes from an inbound transaction nominal of Rp1.85 trillion and outbound of around Rp330 billion,” said Filianingsih. According to Filianingsih, BI is committed to continuing to expand cross-border payment connectivity with several countries. Currently, BI is still exploring the use of cross-border QR codes with Saudi Arabia, India, and Hong Kong. However, she noted that implementation must consider the readiness of each respective country, including regulatory readiness, infrastructure, industry preparedness, and coordination with relevant authorities.
