BI: Consumer Confidence Index Falls to 122.9 in March 2026
Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) at 122.9 in March 2026, down from 125.2 in February. Thus, the downward trend in IKK continues. In January 2026, the IKK was at 127.
Nevertheless, Bank Indonesia assesses that consumer confidence in the economic situation remains strong, as it is at an optimistic level above 100. “The continued strength of consumer confidence in March 2026 is influenced by confidence in the current economic conditions and those over the next six months,” stated Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Executive Director of BI’s Communication Department, in an official statement on Friday, 10 April 2026.
The Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) was recorded at 115.4, a decrease from the previous month’s 115.9. Meanwhile, the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK) stood at 130.4, down from 134.4 in the prior month.
Based on BI’s survey, the IKE position in March 2026 was supported by an increase in the Current Income Index to 129.2, compared to 125 in the previous month. The Job Availability Index fell to 107.8 from 110.7 last month. The Durable Goods Purchase Index dropped to 109.2 from 112 in February.
All components of the IEK experienced declines. The Income Expectations Index fell to 137.7 from 140.7 in the previous month. The Job Availability Expectations Index dropped to 128.0 from 131.7 last month. The Business Activity Expectations Index decreased to 125.5 from 130.9 in the previous month.
