BI: Consumer Confidence in Economic Conditions Remains Stable in June

Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that consumer confidence in economic conditions remained stable in June 2026, as indicated by the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) which stood at an optimistic level of 117.8 (index >100). However, compared to the previous month, the June 2026 IKK was lower than May 2026’s figure of 120.9. Executive Director of the BI Communications Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the maintained consumer confidence in June 2026 was supported by the Current Economic Conditions Index (IKE) and the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK), both of which remained in optimistic territory. The IKE for June 2026 was recorded at 109.2, down from 112.2 in the previous month. This index was supported by the Current Income Index, the Job Availability Index, and the Durable Goods Purchase Index, which were recorded at 119.8, 101.8, and 105.9 respectively, all lower than the previous month’s figures of 123.2, 105.0, and 108.3. Meanwhile, the IEK for June 2026 was recorded at 126.4, lower than the previous month’s index of 129.7. BI noted that the strong IEK was driven by optimism regarding income expectations, job availability expectations, and business activity expectations, which were recorded at 133.6, 124.4, and 121.2 respectively. The survey also recorded that the average propensity to consume ratio in June 2026 was 73.0 percent, higher than the previous month’s proportion of 72.3 percent. The debt installment to income ratio was 10.0 percent, relatively stable compared to the previous month’s 10.2 percent. Meanwhile, the saving to income ratio was 17.0 percent, lower than the previous month’s 17.5 percent.
