Bank Indonesia (BI) has affirmed its commitment to maintaining stability while driving sustainable economic growth through policies that accelerate credit distribution and strengthen MSME development. Executive Director of the BI Communications Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that BI is accelerating credit distribution by involving the government, relevant authorities, banks, and business players. These efforts are supported by the Macroprudential Liquidity Incentive Policy (KLM), which strengthens the intermediation function of banks and financing for the business sector. This is reflected in bank credit growth of 11.51 per cent year-on-year (yoy) in May 2026, an increase from 9.69 per cent (yoy) at the end of 2025. Ramdan noted that the increase in productive sector financing further strengthens economic activity and growth. He added that MSMEs are a pillar of national economic growth and employment. Therefore, BI continues to strengthen MSME development to make them more competitive. In 2025, the turnover of BI-assisted MSMEs reached Rp7.02 trillion, growing 23.1 per cent (yoy), with the highest growth seen in export-oriented MSMEs at 21 per cent and digital MSMEs at 25 per cent. These achievements are expected to continue growing with the implementation of the Integrated MSME Entrepreneurship Transformation Programme. This year, the programme targets the creation of 400 internationally certified baristas, 50 new textile innovations, 200 Islamic boarding schools producing bottled drinking water, and 10 Islamic boarding schools managing integrated agriculture. Ramdan stated that these programmes are directed at strengthening the national entrepreneurship ecosystem, increasing the added value and competitiveness of MSMEs, expanding job opportunities, and strengthening the contribution of MSMEs to inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He also emphasised that Bank Indonesia continues to optimise its policy mix and strengthen synergy with the government and various stakeholders to maintain stability, strengthen sustainable economic growth, and support job creation. Meanwhile, based on the Consumer Survey released on Wednesday (8/7), the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) for June 2026 was recorded at 117.8, remaining in the optimistic zone as it is above 100. The movement of the IKK in recent months has shown fluctuations with a downward trend. In January 2026, the IKK was recorded at 127.0, then fell to 125.2 in February and 122.9 in March. The index slightly increased to 123.0 in April, before falling again to 120.9 in May and 117.8 in June.
