BI: Central Bank Research Directed to 4 Priorities to Address Challenges

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Destry Damayanti stated that central bank research needs to be directed at four priority agendas to address the challenges of geoeconomic fragmentation, digital transformation, and rising systemic risks.

“Bank Indonesia is committed to continuously strengthening a quality and policy-relevant research ecosystem to support evidence-based policymaking amid the changing global economic and financial landscape,” said Destry in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

One of the priority agendas is strengthening the understanding of monetary policy transmission amid geoeconomic fragmentation.

Secondly, deepening the analysis of digital finance and the implications of developments in digital payment systems, artificial intelligence (AI), fintech, crypto assets, and digital currencies for central bank policy.

Lastly, or fourthly, strengthening institutional credibility and policy communication as a foundation for maintaining public trust.

On 31 July, BI held the 20th Bulletin of Monetary Economics and Banking (BMEB) International Conference and Call for Papers with the theme “Central Banking at the Crossroads of Geoeconomic Fragmentation, Digital Transformation, and Systemic Risks”.

The BMEB international conference was attended by researchers, academics, policymakers, and international institutions.
