Bank Indonesia (BI) announced that the results of its Business Activity Survey (SKDU) indicate that business performance improved in the second quarter of 2026. This is reflected in the Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 12.97 percent, higher than the previous quarter’s 10.11 percent.

“The increase in business activity was driven by improved performance in the majority of key business sectors, including agriculture, forestry and fisheries; construction; and mining and quarrying, in line with their business activities. In addition, the accommodation and food and beverage sector also improved, in step with sustained demand during the series of National Religious Holidays (HBKN) and the school holiday high season in the second quarter of 2026,” said BI Head of Communications Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso in a statement on Friday (17/7/2026).

Denny explained that utilised production capacity in the second quarter of 2026 was recorded at 73.80 percent, up from the first quarter of 2026 realisation of 73.33 percent. The increase was primarily supported by the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector; the mining and quarrying sector; and the electricity supply sector.

“Meanwhile, the financial condition of businesses in general remained sound in terms of both liquidity and profitability, with access to credit remaining easy,” he said.

As for the third quarter of 2026, the SKDU results show that respondents expect business activity to remain solid, with a WNB of 11.75 percent. Business sectors expected to improve include the manufacturing industry; wholesale and retail trade and motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, in line with expectations of sustained public demand; and construction, given the continued work on a number of government and private projects. In addition, the performance of the mining and quarrying sector is also expected to improve, as reduced rainfall supports increased mining activity.
