Denpasar, Bali - The Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) in Bali Province is assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on the Island of the Gods in adopting digital technology to expand market access. “Developing MSMEs is an important strategy for us in maintaining price stability, controlling inflation, and driving economic growth,” said Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Bali Province, Ronald Dungdung Parluhutan, in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday. The office is providing one-year assistance to these MSMEs to become central bank beneficiaries, focusing on strengthening digital capacity and market expansion. In this assistance, they are collaborating with professionals to provide understanding, adoption, and optimisation of digital technology in business processes, particularly to increase online sales. The assistance programme also introduces MSMEs to various digital platforms, practical training, and encourages technology integration to capture markets and boost competitiveness. In addition, the programme partners with the Indonesia Export Financing Agency (Eximbank) to encourage more MSME businesses in Bali to become export-oriented. Meanwhile, Deputy for Micro Enterprises at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, M Riza Adha Damanik, appreciated the programme as part of efforts to accelerate digitalisation and strengthen MSME competitiveness. Riza stated that MSMEs play a strategic role in the national economy, with around 56 million units contributing 60.5 percent to gross domestic product (GDP) and absorbing 97 percent of the workforce. The programme is expected to be one of the solutions to the problems faced by the MSME sector, namely challenges in productivity, business scale, as well as access to financing, markets, and technology, which impact the limited export contribution. “In the future, we encourage integrated transformation of the MSME ecosystem through strengthening business legality, certification, access to financing, market expansion, and ongoing assistance,” he added. On the same occasion, Assistant for Economy and Development of the Bali Provincial Secretary, Luh Ayu Aryani, invited MSME actors to implement the learning outcomes from BI’s assistance. Besides digitalisation, she continued, strengthening product quality, packaging, and branding is also an important point to increase added value and competitiveness.
