BI Acting Governor: Rupiah Strengthens Again
Bank Indonesia (BI) Acting Governor Destry Damayanti stated that the rupiah strengthened to 17,994 per US dollar on 31 July 2026, after having weakened since mid-June 2026. The appreciation was driven by foreign capital inflows into Government Securities (SBN) and Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities (SRBI), amid rising yields for investors. BI also maintained its benchmark interest rate at 5.75% and conducted foreign exchange interventions in both domestic and overseas markets to support exchange rate stability.
