Hyatt to offer 'Imlek' buffet

YOGYAKARTA: To mark the upcoming Chinese New Year, or Imlek, which falls on Jan. 22, the five-star Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta Hotel is preparing a special Chinese buffet dinner on Thursday evening at its Kemangi Bistro from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Offered at Rp 169,000 net per adult or Rp 85,000 net per child under 12 years of age, the buffet will offer various Chinese specialties such as Hainan chicken with ginger dressing, Hong Kong noodles, Peking duck, Chinese fried rice, cap cay and Szechuan chicken.

And, of course, thie kwe, or kue keranjang as many call it here, will also be on the buffet menu, said Hyatt Yogyakarta public relations officer Jeni Handayani Ratnasari, referring to the traditional cake specially served at Chinese New Year celebrations.

A similar program, according to Jeni, would also be on offer at the hotel's Teras restaurant, served as an a la carte seafood barbecue dinner.

To make the celebration looks merrier, Jeni said, both restaurants would also be adorned with colorful Chinese decorations, including paper lanterns, or lampion as they are popularly known here. There will also be Chinese popular songs and music.

A Barongsay performance will also be staged as part of the program. --JP
