BHP's plants remain closed

PERTH (Reuters): Australia's largest industrial group, The
Broken Hill Pty. Co. Ltd., said yesterday it had no immediate
plans to reopen its Indonesian steel operations, which were
closed last week after riots broke out in Jakarta.

"We're just monitoring the situation," a BHP spokesman said.
BHP shut down its four steel coating and rolling plants around
Jakarta, but has kept its coal mining operations in East
Kalimantan province operating, the spokesman said.

Australia-based engineering group Clough Ltd. said the office
of its 70 percent-owned PT Petrosea subsidiary in Jakarta had
reopened yesterday after closing on May 14.
