BHP gets new president
JAKARTA (JP): The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited
(BHP) of Australia, which is currently exploring for oil in the
Timor Gap, announced yesterday that the company will be led by a
new president, CE Collin Smith, beginning next month.
Working with a number of local partners, BHP operates four
coal mines in Kalimantan, steel roll forming and wire mesh plants
in Jakarta and Surabaya, East Java, and is constructing new steel
coating lines in West Java.
The company and its partners have invested US$200 million over
the past two years. (rid)
