Bhinneka Run 2026: A run to celebrate the beauty of diversity at TMII
The Bhinneka Run 2026, to be held at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta on Saturday (4/7), is a running event designed to celebrate the beauty of the archipelago’s diversity. Carrying the theme ‘Different Stories, One Finish Line,’ Bhinneka Run invites participants to experience the sensation of ‘running around Indonesia’ without leaving the city, as along the route runners will be greeted by various traditional cultural attractions from ethnic groups across the country, including tanjidor, jathilan, tortor, and other performances at TMII specially prepared to cheer on every step. ‘The aim of Bhinneka Run 2026 is to provide participants with a new activity and experience, combining Indonesia’s diversity with the running experience,’ said M Gilang Kartiko, Chairman of the Bhinneka Run 2026 organising committee, during a press conference in South Jakarta on Tuesday. The competition will be joined by 3,500 participants, with the race starting at Plataran Keong Mas, TMII. At Bhinneka Run 2026, participant comfort is a priority thanks to the integration of RFID technology from MyLaps, ensuring runners’ times are recorded accurately and can be monitored live. Additionally, facial recognition technology from FotoYu will ensure that every precious moment on the track is captured as a beautiful memory without the need to manually search for photos. More than just a sporting event, this occasion has a philanthropic purpose. The organisers have committed to channelling 30 per cent of ticket sales and donations to nutritional aid in the form of milk and fruit, while the remaining 70 per cent is allocated to procuring books, a concrete step to support literacy. ‘For the donations themselves, 100 per cent of the funds we receive will be donated. Seventy per cent will be donated in the form of books for children and teenagers, and the other 30 per cent will be donated as milk and fruit to be distributed to a designated foundation,’ said Gilang. Another highlight of the event is a competition for the most creative costume with the theme ‘Semarak Budaya Nusantara’ (Glorious Archipelago Culture), where winners have the chance to take home a total cash prize of Rp15 million, with Rp1 million awarded to each of the 15 winners. There are also a series of surprise prizes, including smart watches, shopping vouchers, and a grand prize of one electric car for one lucky participant.
