Bharada Andika Named Suspect After Shooting Bharatu Valdo Dead
The Jakarta Metro Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have named a suspect in the murder of Bharatu Laurentius Valdo Fernandes, a police officer from East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The suspect is Bharada Andika Ramadani.
According to detikNews, Andika shot Valdo dead at the Water Police headquarters in Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang, at around 5.30am on Friday (16 October 2026). Polda Metro Jaya has detained Andika following his designation as a suspect.
“Yes, the incident involving Bharatu LVL and Bharada AR took place on Friday. The scene has been examined, the case is being handled, and the suspect has been detained,” Polda Metro Jaya public relations chief Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto told reporters at the National Monument in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (20 October 2026).
In addition to detaining Andika, police have seized several pieces of evidence related to the case, including a cartridge case, a sharp weapon and personal belongings.
Budi said the investigation into the police-on-police shooting was ongoing. Polda Metro Jaya investigators were still examining the incident, including seeking to establish the motive for the shooting.
“Our investigators are also not yet able to conduct a comprehensive examination, given the perpetrator’s circumstances and condition. We need to take that into account, which is why we cannot yet disclose the motive,” Budi said.
Budi stressed that Polda Metro Jaya investigators would pursue the case thoroughly, professionally and proportionately. He said the force would not tolerate personnel who committed crimes.
“The police will not make room for personnel who commit violations or crimes. Anyone who commits a criminal offence will certainly face legal proceedings, and we emphasise that the suspect has been detained,” Budi said.
“We express our empathy to the victim and the victim’s family, and this case will certainly be thoroughly investigated by both the Polda Metro Jaya General Criminal Investigation Directorate and its Professional and Security Division,” Budi added.
