BGN Warns MBG Food Operations Will Be Suspended if Standards Are Not Met
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has reminded the management of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), or MBG kitchens, about the operational standards that must be met to ensure the smooth running of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) in the regions.
Nanik S. Deyang, Deputy Head of BGN for Public Communication and Investigation, speaking at the Economic Synergy Event for Livestock Farmer and MSME Empowerment Strategy, stated that there are several requirements that SPPG must fulfil to avoid suspension of their operations.
“Suspension is imposed on SPPG if there is a case of Extraordinary Event (KLB), commonly known as food poisoning, or non-KLB cases,” said Nanik in Magetan Regency, East Java, as reported on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
For non-KLB cases, she said, these include SPPG not having Wastewater Treatment Installation facilities (IPAL), lacking Hygiene and Sanitation Fitness Certificate (SLHS), kitchen operations not conforming to operational guidelines, not having a minimum of 15 suppliers or partners, not serving the three B beneficiary groups – bumil (pregnant women), busui (nursing mothers), and balita (non-PAUD toddlers) – as well as engaging in price manipulation.
“If any SPPG has fewer than 15 partners, we are prepared to impose temporary suspension. SPPG heads must meet these standards,” she said.
She emphasised that the 15 suppliers must also be sourced from the surrounding area of the SPPG so that the local economy around the kitchen can thrive.
“One of the government’s objectives for the MBG programme is to boost the people’s economy. These 15 partner suppliers must also be sourced from around the SPPG so that the local economy can develop,” said Nanik.
In response, the Food Task Force of Magetan Regency expressed readiness to encourage SPPG managers to make improvements and meet operational standards so that MBG needs in Magetan can be optimally fulfilled.
Through the Food Task Force, the local government continues to work intensively with the BGN Regional Coordinator (Korwil) in Magetan.
“We have also established a Nutrition Fulfilment Service Office (KPPG) as a venue for the community to obtain information related to the MBG Programme in Magetan,” said Magetan Regent Nanik Endang whilst accompanying the working visit of the Deputy Head of BGN.
