BGN urges nutritionists to diversify MBG menus for Papua children
After our checks in Kabupaten Jayapura, there are only five to seven MBG menus, so we are pushing nutritionists to diversify the menus to prevent children from getting bored. Sentani: The Acting Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation, National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Gunalan, at a module socialisation for MBG implementers in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, on Thursday, said that MBG menus distributed to schools on the island of Java are about 20-30 menus, while in Papua, particularly Jayapura Regency, there are only five to seven menus. “After we checked in Kabupaten Jayapura, there are only five to seven menus, so we are pushing nutritionists to diversify the menus to prevent the children from getting bored,” he said. According to Gunalan, in the socialisation, they prepared 23 modules which are promotional and educational materials to be studied by the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) in Kabupaten Jayapura. He explained that they had received six testimonials from UNICEF and also from a delegation from China about MBG implementation in Kabupaten Jayapura, one of which is that student interest in school has increased. “Thus, to attract more children to school, MBG menus must be diversified or added,” he said. “He added that they hope all SPPG in Kabupaten Jayapura as well as nutritionists can become educational agents and continue to disseminate information about MBG to the community.” “For Kabupaten Jayapura, there are already 24 SPPGs operating well, although there is one problem: the menus are still minimal, and this is what we will continue to push,” he added.
