The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is coordinating with local governments (pemda) regarding the supervision of the free nutritious meals (MBG) programme implementation. BGN requests that MBG task forces in the regions be more assertive if there are problematic nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG).

“Now, the Task Force already has Presidential Regulation 115, one of its contents is to strengthen coordination of the district and provincial MBG Task Forces, directly involved. So, the Task Force’s authority can inspect in the regions accompanied by BGN,” said Director of Regional Monitoring and Supervision II of BGN, Albertus Dony Dewantoro, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Dony mentioned that previously local governments were hesitant to act if there were problems. Now, he emphasises that the Task Force can directly check and provide recommendations to BGN for imposing sanctions.

“Local governments felt they couldn’t intervene, even though they could coordinate. This is what we’re bridging. Hence, there’s reluctance because they feel there’s an overlap in duties, even though it’s already part of the duties,” said Dony.

“That’s why there’s emphasis not to hesitate, enter BGN and collaborate with the regional office for spot checks. That’s allowed as long as there’s BGN personnel accompanying. The one that can impose closure is BGN, which can be based on the Task Force’s recommendations,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision of BGN, Dadang Hendrayudha, mentioned that there are currently 1,084 MBG kitchens in Banten. He said supervision cannot be handled by BGN alone.

“We hope we supervise together, the public supervises, schools supervise, local governments supervise, we remind each other. So that this very noble programme can truly be felt by Indonesian children,” he said.

Banten Deputy Governor Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah said the region needs to participate in supervising the programme. That way, President Prabowo Subianto’s MBG programme can run well.

“This is the first programme and its multiplier effect will be very large. We support this programme and we must also participate in supervising the activities, so that this programme can be implemented as expected by Mr President,” he said.
