BGN to Suspend 1,256 MBG Nutrition Service Units from 1 April 2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has once again taken firm action by temporarily suspending operations of 1,256 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in eastern Indonesia. This will take effect from 1 April 2026.
Director of Monitoring and Supervision for Region III at BGN, Rudi Setiawan, stated that this measure is due to these SPPG units not having registered for Hygiene and Sanitation Certificates (SLHS). They also lack Wastewater Treatment Installations (IPAL).
“The SPPG units we plan to suspend, effective from 1 April 2026 in Region III, are those without SLHS and IPAL,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
According to him, possession of SLHS and IPAL is an absolute requirement that all SPPG must meet. This is to guarantee food safety and maintain environmental hygiene standards in implementing the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
“We want to ensure that all SPPG fully meet the standards, both in terms of food safety and waste management. This is crucial to protect the health of the beneficiaries,” Rudi emphasised.
BGN has also provided time and opportunities for SPPG to promptly complete these requirements. However, up to the specified deadline, several SPPG have yet to register for SLHS or provide IPAL facilities.
Furthermore, Rudi mentioned that his side will continue to conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation. SPPG that meet all provisions can resume operations after undergoing verification.
“We encourage the suspended SPPG to make improvements and complete the requirements as soon as possible. After that, they can reapply for verification to resume operations,” he concluded.
