BGN to Build New Kitchens for Free Nutritious Meals Programme in Stunting-Prone Regions

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) will begin prioritising the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in areas with high stunting prevalence. The BGN will even build new kitchens if no nutrition service fulfilment units (SPPG) yet exist in those areas.

BGN Head Sudaryono said he has received data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) regarding areas with high stunting prevalence. The data will serve as the basis for the BGN in implementing one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes.

“Based on the map provided by the Health Minister earlier, there are regencies and cities where stunting is high and even very high, for example,” he said at the Ministry of Health on Wednesday (5/8/2026).

According to him, the data from the Ministry of Health will be synchronised with the current distribution of MBG kitchens. Where a kitchen already exists in a region, the agency will immediately serve children suffering from stunting.

“If there is no kitchen yet, we will, if necessary, specifically build kitchens in those places,” Sudaryono said.
