JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) threatens to close the MBG kitchens that refuse to source raw materials from local farmers, fishermen, breeders, and local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Deputy Head of BGN Nanik S. Deyang said that the closure of MBG kitchens would not be limited to cases of poisoning.

The statement was made at the Coordination Meeting on the Implementation of the MBG Programme held at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Central Java Governor’s Office Complex, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

On the occasion, Nanik reminded regional heads that they must encourage MBG kitchens to use food products from their own regions.

This is in line with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 115 of 2025.

“According to Presidential Regulation 115 it must be local. It cannot come from other areas. The blame will fall on the regional heads if they do not use local food ingredients,” Nanik said.

He emphasised that every Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) must prioritise the use of raw materials from farmers, breeders, fishermen, and local MSMMs around the MBG kitchen.

If the raw materials are not available, they are only allowed to obtain them from another sub-district or district.

Nanik gave an example, stating that when an MBG kitchen cannot obtain eggs in its own district, they may source them from another district.

“But as long as there are poultry farms in that District, they are not allowed to [source from elsewhere],” Nanik added.

Nanik stated that after receiving reports from regional heads that a certain SPPG refuses to absorb local foodstuffs, BGN will take firm action.

BGN, through the Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision, will block that SPPG as a form of punishment.

“Suspend immediately. We will close it on that very day,” Nanik said.

“(My) job is not to run kitchens. Shutting kitchens is my job,” he added.
