BGN Temporarily Closes 492 SPPGs in Sumatra That Have Not Registered SLHS
National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily closed 492 Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) in the Sumatra region that have not registered the Sertifikat Laik Higiene dan Sanitasi (SLHS). Director for Monitoring and Supervision of Region I, Harjito, said the closures began on 9 March 2026 and will continue until the affected SPPGs obtain SLHS. Data as of 7 March 2026 at 11:00 shows there are 492 SPPGs in Sumatra that have not registered SLHS, Harjito said in a press release on Saturday, 7 March 2026. All SPPGs that have been operating are required to meet hygiene and sanitation standards, including through the SLHS registration and verification process at the local health offices. ‘This suspension is a corrective measure so that all kitchens operating truly meet health and food safety standards,’ Harjito said. Harjito emphasised that BGN will give all SPPGs the opportunity to promptly complete administrative obligations and sanitation standards. Therefore he urged all affected SPPG managers to coordinate with the local health department to accelerate the SLHS registration process. ‘We hope the SPPGs can promptly complete the required prerequisites so that services can resume and the benefits of the MBG programme can continue to be felt by the public,’ he stated. Meanwhile MBG kitchens in Jambi, South Sumatra, and the Bangka Belitung Islands are already recorded as having SLHS.
