The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has taken drastic action by temporarily halting the operational activities of 62 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) across various regions. This step was taken following the discovery of inadequate presentation of Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menus that did not align with allocated budgets during the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijra/2026.

BGN Head Dadan Hindayana revealed that the 62 SPPG units were detected providing “minimalist” or poor quality menus that were disproportionate to the funding allocated by the state. The case gained prominence following public complaints and viral social media posts that attracted sharp public scrutiny.

Dadan characterised the 62 units as a “vocal minority” that tarnished the integrity of thousands of other units. From a total of over 25,000 SPPG operating, the majority are claimed to have carried out their duties properly in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

“There are 62 SPPG that we have temporarily closed because they did not comply in providing menus, whether minimalist menus or poor quality menus. That is what we have closed during this Ramadan period,” Dadan stated, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (17/3).

Beyond the menu provision issues, BGN also identified broader violations. Many SPPG units had not obtained Food Safety and Sanitation Certificates (SLHS) and lacked adequate wastewater treatment facilities (IPAL).

BGN has implemented a tiered sanctions mechanism, beginning with first through third warning letters (SP), before ultimately deciding on temporary closure. However, Dadan issued a stern warning that sanctions could escalate to permanent closure and criminal prosecution.

“If it is proven that there are deviations or budgetary misappropriation under the law, criminal prosecution is not ruled out. For now, we are focused on coaching to ensure that every Rupiah received can be accounted for as best as possible,” he concluded.
