BGN suspends SPPG operations in Nabire for using MBG vehicle to transport rubbish
Nabire (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has suspended operations at the Siriwini SPPG 02 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit in Nabire Regency, Central Papua, due to the use of a distribution vehicle for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme to transport rubbish.
BGN Nabire Regional Coordinator Marsel Asyerem stated in Nabire on Friday that BGN has determined that the SPPG committed a violation related to the improper use of operational vehicles in violation of standard operating procedures.
“BGN headquarters has sent a letter of temporary operational suspension to us in the region as a follow-up to that report,” he said.
He explained that the SOP violation came to light after they received a report from the Nabire Environmental Agency (DLH), which is part of the Nabire MBG Acceleration Task Force, discovering the MBG box truck being used to transport and dispose of rubbish.
In response to the report, BGN Nabire forwarded it to BGN headquarters for further action.
“BGN headquarters imposed a temporary suspension sanction because the kitchen violated the established standard operating procedures,” he said.
Marsel emphasised that the MBG box truck, provided for food distribution operations, must not be used for any other purposes, including transporting rubbish.
“This operational vehicle, although provided by a partner, is rented by BGN for distributing MBG food, so it must be used according to its intended purpose and comply with SOPs,” he stated.
He added that the operational suspension will remain in place until the evaluation and investigation processes are completed. The kitchen management is also required to produce a commitment statement to avoid repeating similar violations.
“There must be a statement from the head of the SPPG that in the future, the box truck will not be used for other purposes and that all applicable SOPs will be followed,” he said.
