Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has once again temporarily suspended or halted operations of hundreds of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in Region II (Java Island) and Region III (eastern part of Indonesia). This measure is intended to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) continues to operate in accordance with quality standards and food safety protocols. Director of Monitoring and Supervision for Region II of BGN, Albertus Doni Dewantoro, reported in Jakarta on Saturday that, as of now, the number of SPPG temporarily suspended in Region II stands at 362 units. In the report for the period from 6 to 10 April 2026, an additional 41 SPPG were subjected to temporary suspension sanctions. “As of today, the number of SPPG in Region II that have been temporarily suspended totals 362. This week’s report, from 6-10 April, includes 41 SPPG that were temporarily suspended. This enforcement is part of BGN’s commitment to maintaining service quality, food safety, and operational governance in the field,” said Doni. From the detailed report, on Monday (6/4), nine SPPG were temporarily suspended due to various findings, such as the absence of nutrition and financial supervisors in Bogor, West Java; unsuitable menus in Brebes, Central Java; and several kitchens in East Java still undergoing renovation. Subsequently, on Thursday (9/4), 14 more SPPG were temporarily suspended. The issues identified included aspects of human resources (HR) in South Jakarta, as well as suspected digestive disturbances in Bogor, West Java; Tasikmalaya, West Java; and Bantul, Yogyakarta; alongside renovations that continue to dominate. Then, on Friday (10/4), three SPPG were actioned, with findings including unfinished renovations, suspected digestive disturbances in Mojokerto, East Java; and unsuitable menus in Sampang, Madura. Meanwhile, in Region III, BGN has taken similar steps. Director of Monitoring and Supervision for Region III of BGN, Rudi Setiawan, stated that out of a total of approximately 4,300 SPPG, 165 units have been temporarily suspended because they do not possess Hygiene Sanitation Fitness Certificates (SLHS) and lack wastewater treatment installations (IPAL).
