BGN Suspends Dozens of SPPGs in Central Lombok to Maintain MBG Quality

Coordinator of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, M Ikhsan, stated that the temporary suspension of operations or suspension of dozens of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPGs) is intended to maintain the quality of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

“This policy is to provide certainty regarding the quality of the MBG programme received by the public in accordance with the operational standards set by the government,” said M Ikhsan in Central Lombok on Wednesday.

He explained that the temporary closure of these SPPGs was carried out because they do not meet operational standards, namely the lack of a wastewater treatment installation (IPAL) that complies with standards.

This has become a complaint from residents living around the SPPG locations, and reports continue to be received regarding the environmental impact of waste odours.

In addition, the temporary closure of these SPPGs is due to the absence of a Hygiene Sanitation Certificate (SLHS).

“There are two issues causing these SPPGs to be temporarily closed,” he said.

Therefore, they hope that SPPG partners will soon submit applications for SLHS processing and IPAL improvements in accordance with the Decree of the Head of the National Nutrition Agency of the Republic of Indonesia Number 401.1 of 2025 on Technical Guidelines for the Management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme for the 2026 Fiscal Year.

“The aim is to anticipate risks that could affect production quality, nutritional quality, and menu safety in the MBG programme,” he said.

He stated that based on preliminary data, the number of SPPGs temporarily suspended is 300 in the NTB region, and for Central Lombok, there are 80 SPPGs spread across 12 sub-districts in Central Lombok.

“Out of 168 kitchens in Central Lombok, 80 SPPGs have been temporarily suspended,” he said.

He added that the duration of the temporary suspension depends on the kitchen managers to complete the SPPG operational requirements, namely the construction of IPAL and SLHS.

“This means that the sooner the SPPG side completes the operational standard requirements, the sooner they can reapply to operate. It depends on the kitchen managers to fulfil the requirements set by BGN,” he said.
