BGN Suspends 1,256 SPPG Units Due to Lack of SLHS and IPAL
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has once again temporarily suspended (suspended) 1,256 nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG) in eastern Indonesia, effective from 1 April 2026. Director of Monitoring and Supervision for Region III of BGN, Rudi Setiawan, stated that the temporary suspension was taken because those SPPG units have not registered hygiene and sanitation fitness certificates (SLHS).
Not only that, Rudi revealed that more than a thousand SPPG units also lack wastewater treatment installations (IPAL). “The SPPG units we plan to suspend, effective from 1 April 2026 in Region III, are those that do not yet have SLHS and IPAL,” he said in a written statement on Monday, 31 March 2026.
According to Rudi, possession of SLHS and IPAL is an absolute requirement that all SPPG must meet to guarantee food safety and maintain environmental cleanliness standards in implementing the free nutritious meal programme (MBG). “We want to ensure that all SPPG truly meet the standards, both in terms of food safety and waste management. This is important to protect the health of the beneficiaries,” said Rudi.
BGN has also given time and opportunities for SPPG to promptly complete those requirements. However, up to the specified deadline, there are still a number of SPPG that have not registered SLHS or provided IPAL facilities.
Furthermore, Rudi conveyed that BGN will continue to conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation. SPPG that have met all provisions can resume operations after going through a verification process.
He hopes that all suspended SPPG will promptly make improvements and complete the specified requirements. “After that, they can reapply for verification to operate again,” he said.
