Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Public Communication and Investigation Nanik S. Deyang fully supports the government’s budget efficiency measures to ensure the effective distribution of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

“The BGN respects and follows government directives, particularly from the Ministry of Finance (MoF), regarding national budget efficiency measures. These adjustments target operational spending to ensure more effective budget usage and maximum impact,” Nanik stated in Jakarta on Friday.

Nanik highlighted that the synergy between the MoF and BGN has been effective in ensuring the sustainability of the MBG programme as one of President Prabowo Subianto’s national strategic initiatives.

“The collaboration between the MoF and BGN demonstrates the government’s joint commitment to maintaining the quality of the MBG programme while ensuring transparent, accountable, and sustainable budget management,” she said.

By 24 May 2026, the MBG programme has reached approximately 62.4 million beneficiaries through 29,225 SPPG distribution points across Indonesia. The government ensures the programme remains optimally operational despite efficiency adjustments in certain operational areas.

According to Nanik, budget efficiency presents an opportunity to strengthen programme implementation, ensuring it is more targeted and effective for those in need.

“Our primary principle is to ensure optimal service for beneficiaries. Efficiency does not mean reducing the government’s commitment to the MBG programme but enhancing its effectiveness to deliver broader and sustainable benefits,” Nanik added.
