BGN states that temporarily suspended SPPG units continue to improve quality
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) states that Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) that have been temporarily suspended continue to improve their services and are committed to enhancing delivery under the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG). This commitment is evidenced by preliminary reports recording 1,528 SPPG units nationwide experiencing temporary operational suspensions as of Wednesday (25/3). The data represents an accumulation from January 2025 to March 2026. Deputy Head of BGN for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, in Jakarta on Thursday, said the number indicates a declining trend compared to two weeks prior. “There has been a decrease compared to two weeks ago because many have now registered for the Hygiene and Sanitation Worthiness Certificate (SLHS),” Nanik stated. She explained that two weeks earlier, the number of affected SPPG units was higher, particularly on Java Island exceeding 1,500 units. Additionally, eastern Indonesia recorded 779 affected SPPG units, while western Indonesia had 492. “After the suspension, if the issue was due to not yet registering for SLHS, now many have registered,” she said. BGN emphasises that this temporary suspension policy aims to ensure nutritional service standards are maintained, particularly regarding hygiene and sanitation aspects. With increasing compliance to SLHS, it is hoped that SPPG operations can gradually return to normal. This step is also part of national oversight to guarantee that nutritional services to the public remain safe and in accordance with government-set standards. BGN also reports details of SPPG operational suspensions divided into two categories: due to prominent incidents (KM) and non-prominent incidents. Closures due to prominent incidents include digestive disturbances among beneficiaries in Region I (Sumatra) with 17 SPPG; Region II (Java) with 27 SPPG; and Region III (Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua) with 28 SPPG. Meanwhile, closures due to non-prominent incidents, such as kitchen construction not following technical guidelines, in Region I with 198 SPPG; Region II with 464 SPPG; and Region III with 30 SPPG. Currently, the number of SPPG still under operational suspension status is recorded in Region I with 215 SPPG; Region II with 491 SPPG; and Region III with 58 SPPG.
