BGN States SLHS is Food Hygiene Guarantee, Not Mere Formality Document
JAKARTA - The Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Khairul Hidayati, stated that the Food Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate (SLHS) is not merely a formality document for Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).
“SLHS is not just a formality document. SLHS is a form of assurance that the food processing process is carried out with good hygiene and sanitation standards,” said Hida, in an official statement, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Hida reminded that, in accordance with BGN Regulation No. 4 of 2026, SPPGs that do not yet have SLHS will be subject to temporary operational suspension (suspend) at the latest three months after the regulation is established until the certificate is obtained.
According to him, this policy is implemented not to complicate SPPGs but as a form of responsibility to protect the beneficiaries.
Hida said that problems often arise not because we lack regulations, but because existing standards are not implemented with discipline.
“Food security in the MBG programme cannot be compromised, considering the number of beneficiaries and active SPPGs continues to increase every day,” he stated.
Hida said that the success of the programme is greatly determined by the quality of implementation in the field, particularly through the strategic role of SPPGs.
He stated that the public will judge the MBG Programme based on the quality of food received every day, from distribution accuracy, cleanliness, to food security.
Therefore, SLHS becomes an important instrument to ensure that the food processing process is carried out in accordance with good hygiene and sanitation standards.
