Kendari (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Regional Office for Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) has stated that 126 units of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), specifically designated for Sultra’s frontier, remote, and underdeveloped (3T) areas, have been fully constructed.

Deputy Head of SPPG at BGN Regional Sultra, Maharany Puspaningrum, explained during an interview in Kendari on Tuesday that all infrastructure for these 3T SPPG units was actually completed in 2025 and is now entering the technical preparation phase.

“All locations in the 3T areas have been fully built. We are currently awaiting the process for simultaneous operations, considering the high geographical challenges in accessing these 3T SPPG sites,” said Maharany.

Maharany detailed that out of the total regions in Sultra, 15 regencies have been targeted for the construction of 3T SPPG units. Meanwhile, Kendari City and Baubau City are not included in this category due to their more urban characteristics.

She added that the construction sites for 3T SPPG are predominantly in hilly and island areas that are quite far from urban centres.

“For example, in South Konawe Regency, there are seven sites in Laonti Subdistrict. Currently, one unit that is ready to operate is the one managed in synergy with the South Konawe Police Resort,” she revealed.

In contrast, the 3T SPPG units are designed to address mobility limitations due to geographical factors, with fewer than 1,000 beneficiaries per unit.

“Even though geographically challenging, the operational principles remain strict. Food distribution must not exceed 30 minutes with a maximum radius of 6 kilometres from the beneficiaries’ location to maintain optimal nutritional quality,” Maharany emphasised.

The construction of these 126 3T SPPG units represents the government’s commitment through BGN to ensure equitable distribution of social security programmes. The overarching narrative of this construction is to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is not only enjoyed by urban communities but also reaches the most remote corners.

“The main principle is inclusivity. We want to expand the benefits of the MBG programme so that children and communities in remote areas receive the same right to nutritional fulfilment as those living in cities,” she added.
