BGN Says Rp270 Trillion Budget for 2027 Free Nutritious Meals Not Yet Final
Jakarta – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has indicated that the budget for the 2027 Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme has not been finalised. Deputy Head of BGN Agustina Arumsari stated that the agency has received an indicative budget ceiling of Rp270,201,499,678 from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).
“For 2027, we have received an indicative allocation of Rp270,201,499,678. That is for 81.5 million beneficiaries in 2027,” Arum said, as quoted on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
Arum explained that the agency is still conducting evaluations, meaning the figure could potentially be streamlined further. “We are still exercising how much more we can make efficient. For now, once again, this is not final because it has not yet been discussed,” she stated.
One of the steps BGN will take is evaluating the beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals programme. The agency has coordinated with the Ministry of Health regarding this matter. Furthermore, Arum said BGN will improve the governance of MBG kitchens, known as Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).
“That will be one of the impacts of the refocusing. Internally, BGN will also undergo a transformation, from its human resources to its governance,” Arum added.
