BGN: Rp6 million per day incentive distributed evenly among SPPGs to improve MBG quality
Jakarta – The National Food and Nutrition Agency (BGN) explained that the Rp6 million per day incentive is distributed evenly to all partners of the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) to improve the quality of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sanjaya explained that initially the incentive was provided as a rental to cover facilities built by the community, namely land for the building, cooking equipment, or eating utensils. ‘It was charged at Rp2,000 per portion. Then it became clear that many were competing to maximise beneficiaries up to 4,000 or 4,200 people. Because multiplied by Rp2,000, that means Rp8 million or more per day, though some were fewer. We reassessed this difference, and ultimately the flat Rp6 million per day with a standard of 3,000 beneficiaries,’ he said in a BGN podcast in Jakarta on Friday.
‘What is the point of serving so many merely for quantity, when we emphasise quality. So we have reduced the number of beneficiaries; the aim is to improve quality,’ he added.
Therefore he emphasised to each SPPG to firmly reject ingredients whose quality does not meet standards and is not fit for consumption.
In addition to quality or nutritional content, BGN is also committed to continually improving the dynamics that occur to enhance MBG quality.
‘We are doing this so that everything is truly perfect, because everything can be good if it goes through a proper process. We will continue to study and evaluate, one of which is suspending (temporarily stopping) SPPGs whose facilities or equipment are incomplete, which can lead to incidents (food poisoning),’ said Sony Sanjaya.
