The National Nutrition Agency is reminding managers of nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG) to be wary of scam modus operandi that impersonate officials from the agency. This practice has already claimed victims in several regions.

Director of Regional Monitoring and Supervision I at BGN, Harjito, stated that his name is frequently used by irresponsible individuals to send fake communications, particularly regarding the opening of suspended operations and surprise inspections (sidak). “My name is often used for scams. Many people have already been deceived,” said Harjito in a written statement on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

Unlike general scam modus operandi, the perpetrators do not immediately demand money. Instead, they send letters or emails with letterheads resembling official BGN identities, although they originate from invalid addresses. This method often convinces recipients that the messages are official.

Harjito stated that all official BGN communications are only conducted through designated channels and domains. Therefore, he urged SPPG managers not to immediately act on every suspicious letter or email.

“If you receive an email or letter purporting to be from BGN but using an unofficial letterhead or unclear source, it is best not to act on it immediately. Verify it first,” he said.

He also requested that any suspected scams be immediately reported to the authorities or through BGN’s official complaint channels to prevent more victims.

According to Harjito, collective vigilance is needed to maintain the integrity of the national nutrition fulfilment programme. In the future, BGN plans to strengthen its communication systems and public outreach so that society can more easily distinguish between official and fake information.

This case arises amid the expansion of the free nutritious meals programme, which involves many parties, including SPPG managers in various regions. This situation is seen as creating opportunities for unscrupulous individuals to exploit the institution’s name for certain interests.
