Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has firmly instructed BGN to ensure the quality of all implementations of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Dadan mentioned that his agency has formed an internal SPPG Classification Team. “The President’s special message during Eid al-Fitr is for BGN to improve the quality of SPPG organisation and services. Inadequate SPPGs should be temporarily closed and quality improvements carried out immediately,” said Dadan on Monday (23/3/2026). Dadan explained that the special unit is tasked with monitoring the implementation of certifications across all SPPGs. In the initial phase, supervision focuses on three main certifications: the Hygiene and Sanitation Compliance Certificate (SLHS), the Halal Certificate, and HACCP certification (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point). These three certifications, according to Dadan, form the primary foundation in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and quality of food served to the public. “Once these three certifications are fulfilled, it will advance to certifications related to the quality of SPPG human resources, including chefs, food handlers, and environmental analysis,” Dadan continued. Dadan stated that the completeness of certifications will serve as the benchmark for determining the classification or grading of SPPGs. This system is expected to create measurable quality standards while encouraging continuous improvement in service quality. Dadan further explained that his agency is forming an internal SPPG Classification Team while awaiting the establishment of a national SPPG Accreditation institution by the government. The team is responsible for conducting initial assessments and preparing for a more structured and integrated accreditation system in the future. This step is seen as part of BGN’s strategic efforts to ensure the nutritional fulfilment programme runs optimally, safely, and in accordance with national and international standards. “Before the SPPG Accreditation institution is formed, BGN will specifically establish an internal SPPG Classification Team and systematically prepare to face the external accreditation institution,” Dadan concluded.
