BGN Requires SPPGs to Have TikTok and Instagram, so MBG Can Be Monitored by the Public
Jakarta, VIVA – The National Food and Nutrition Agency (BGN) requires all Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) to have social media, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, so the public can participate in monitoring the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG). ‘Every day who evaluates? The public directly, because we every day have ordered all heads of SPPG to create social media as we have determined, namely Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok,’ said Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sanjaya, as reported by Antara, Friday, 6 March 2026. He said there are currently 45,000 SPPG social media accounts serving as a channel for public evaluation, covering aspects such as menu, nutritional quality, and price. ‘So every day they must show what their menu is, the nutritional quality, and the price. Every week we also hold webinars; Zoom Meetings are interactive, so those are small evaluations. We also conduct district-level evaluations; here are minimal menus, so there are no more watermelons cut into fan shapes (cut too thin),’ he said. He explained that through these evaluations there is an expected ‘shaming effect’ on SPPGs that prepare menus below MBG quality served by other SPPGs. ‘If they are required to upload to social media, at least there will be a shaming effect. Each package must also carry nutritional information and its price; this is a form of transparency and public accountability,’ he added. BGN will also take firm action against individuals within SPPGs who use a tactic of pretending to be deceived when building kitchens to serve the MBG programme. ‘There is a tactic of building first, then pretending to be deceived so as to ensure verification, but some are genuinely deceived; for example, yesterday someone came to me, ’Sir, I was deceived, my kitchen is ready, but I was deceived, it did not enter the system.’ I asked, who is the deceiver? If there is one, report it; I want to know to distinguish between a tactic and the real case,’ he said. Sony explained that if a prospective partner, when asked who the deceiver is, refuses to answer, then it can be confirmed that it is only a tactic to obtain verification from BGN.
